3. What do you do when you are not at the box?
I am an occupational therapist working at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.
4. How did you start CrossFit and how long have you been doing it?
I started CrossFit in April 2014. I moved back to Pretoria from Cape Town at the end of 2013. I was missing Cape Town and was extremely bored with the usual gym routine. I needed a challenge and motivation in my life. On my way home every day, I drove past the box and saw the sign and decided that CrossFit would provide me with the challenge that I lacked in my life.
5. What is your biggest achievement since starting CrossFit?
My biggest achievement since starting CrossFit is doing my first strict pull up!
6. What is your best and worst movement or WOD?
My worst movement is anything overhead but particularly overhead squats and squat snatches. My two best movements are pistols and deadlifts.
7. Most memorable moment at CFB?
The most memorable moment for me was participating in Last Man Standing. The competition pushed me past my limits to achieve my personal best snatch, deadlift and pull ups. Besides this, the camaraderie and support from all athletes was motivational and inspiring.
8. Who inspires you at the box and why?
My mom inspires me the most at the box. She joined CrossFit in July 2014. She inspires me because no matter how difficult the WOD is, she always finishes and is now overtaking me!
Another inspiration for me at the box is all the support and cheering to motivate each other to finish WODs.
9. Any words of wisdom to your fellow CFBers or newbies?
My words of wisdom for newbies is to not be intimidated by others and to always remember that it is a race against yourself and no one else. Arrive for class every day and try your best.
